Swimming pool at lacasatoya, Aluenda, Spain

What can I do on the day off?

The Sivananda Yoga Teachers’ Training Course is a 300-hour, 4-week intensive course. It is aimed at yoga practitioners who are looking for a transformative experience and the development of teaching skills to pass on to others. A month of intensive practice in a beautiful natural setting, to deepen all aspects of traditional yoga.

The intensive course schedule allows for one free day per week. On your free day you can visit the wonderful natural surroundings, take a dip in the salt water swimming pool of the hotel, relax, or of course visit the attractive places in the surrounding area.

lacasatoya, the hotel where we stayed during the course, is located in the Sierra Vicor, it has two peaks above 1.400 m., the peak of El Rayo and the peak of Santa Brígida. The whole of the foot of the mountain is practically occupied by almond and cherry trees. The rest of the mountain is covered with splendid pine trees.

Above the pine woods are steep pastures, where wild rose bushes and sorrels abound. Within the pine woods there are many holm oaks and in the clearings there are rockroses. On the eastern slope there are holly trees.

Region of Spas: The Region of Calatayud is not only known for the Monastery of Piedra. It is the region of Aragon with the most spas. It currently has 7 spas. The closest is Paracuellos de Jiloca, just 10 minutes from lacasatoya, with sulphurous waters, ideal for skin and respiratory system treatments. Another emblematic place is Termas Pallares, a beautiful place with a thermal lake with a fixed temperature all year round.

Very close to us we have other interesting places to visit:

The Monastery of Piedra
Calatayud
Goya’s birthplace in Fuendetodos
Natural Spas os Aragon
The monumental city of Zaragoza
